A level transmitter can be an application of a level sensor.
a Capacitive Transducer can be used, usually, as a level
translator(but it should be noted that a level translator is
actually more of an electronic circuitry term!).
The principle of the level translator is based on the change
in capacitance due to the change in the overlapping area of
the dielectric,i.e.,the change in the level of the element
thats being measured, can be associated with that of the
dielectric in a suitable capacitive transducer setup.

It's better to say (whats the working principle of level measurement?)
For level measurement we have the following techniques:
1 - differential pressure types (usual differntial presure instrument & bubbler tube).
2 - Sight types (displacer & sight glass).
3 - Sonic type.
4 - Capacitive type.
5 - Radiation type (RADAR & radio active material instrument).
Each type has a specific working principle.
Good Luck

There are different types of level transmitter who works on
different principle exa Displacement type,differential
pressure type,nucleonic type,capacitance type etc.
Displacement type L Tx works on Archimedes principle which
states that the buoyant force on a submerged object is
equal to the weight of the fluid that is displaced by the
object.
similarly in D/P L tx, fluid exerts pressure on HP/LP side
of the capsule & based on the differential head & specific
gravity, the transmitter gives mA output.

This question is not clear... Generally speaking, a level
transmitter is the one which is used to measure the level.
we ve many types n each type has distinct characteristics.
so simply speaking, it ll sense n tell the level variation
by either capacitance change, float posion change etc..

i think he is asking about principles to measure level by different methods which are,
1. by dp xmtr based on dp principle in case of steam drum or closed tank level.
2. by the principle of head static pressure in case of open tank system.
3. by Archimedes principle which uses buoyant force etc
and others are their helping systems like displacement type level xtmr which using Archimedes principle actually,
and capactive reactance which is using in to measure pressure on the diaphragm actually of DP xtmr not for level measurement.

A pressure differential gauge type of instrument has a manifold with 2 isolation valves (hp and lp),2 vents(1 each for hp and lp) and 1 equalizing valve. Determine the position of each valve(either fully closed or fully open) when troboulshooting to: 1. zero the transmitter. 2. determine if there is a block in the impulse line. 3. determine if the gauge is functioning properly. The process fluid is water.
what is the dp across a orifice plate & how much is permanent pressure across an orifice plate.
