against Earth fault/leakage current and isolation of the circuit

rccb basicaly works when there is sm difference in i/p and
o/p current
it is an advanced version of elcb
mostly it is used in 3 no.s i.e. 1 for each phase
for single phase supply rcbo is used
it provides protection from earth leakage
