PDA MEANS PHOTO DIODE ARRAY DETECTOR WHICH IS USED TO FIND
THE RETENTION TIME OF THE PEAK AT MULTIPLE WAVELENTH i.e at
DIFFERENT NANOMETERS IN HPLC INSTRUMENT.FOR EXAMPLE CAFFINE
WAVELENTH CAN BE DETECT AT 205, 243, 273 nm AT A TIME BY
PDA DETECTOR BY HPLC

PDA MEANS PHOTO DIODE ARRAY DETECTOR WHICH IS USED TO FIND
THE RETENTION TIME OF THE PEAK AT MULTIPLE WAVELENTH i.e at
DIFFERENT NANOMETERS IN HPLC INSTRUMENT.
FOR EXAMPLE CAFFINE
WAVELENTH CAN BE DETECTED MAXIMA AT 205, MINIMA AT 245, AND
MAXIMA AT 273 nm AT ONE SINGLE INJECTION/CHROMATOGRAM WHICH
WILL SCAN THE CHROMATOGRAM AT SPECIFIED RANGE.

PDA Detector covers whole range of 200 - 800 nm of spectrum
as it contains both UV as well as Visible light source.
we can scan or we can get spectra of analyte in whole UV-
Visible range, so that we can check the response of analyte
at different wavelengths.
Further, it also give us idea about peak purity and whether
there is any co-eluting peak with the analyte peak.
It scans the chromatogram at front, top and tail and checks
it is single pure peak or not. PDA is very helpful in
impurity analysis and forced degradation studies.

1) By using PDA detector we can analyse the product at
multiful wave lenghts(i.e A product contains more than one
active and has different wavelenths) that can be analysed.
2) By using PDA detector we can determine peak purity.
3) By using PDA detector we can determine purity factor.

AS THE DETECTOR SCAN THE CHROMATOGRAM AT DIFFERENT
WAVELENGTH, NO NEED TO GO FOR WAVELENGTH MAXIMA
DETERMINATION OF ANY SOLUTE IN SOLUTION
HELPS TO KNOW THE PURITY OF THE PEAK BY COMPARING THE
SPECTRUM AT DIFFERENT WAVELENGTHS AND OVERLAYING OF THE SAME

PHOTO DIODE ARRAY DETECTOR WORKS JUST AS SIMPLE UV
DETECTOR,BUT ONL Y THE BASIC DIFFERENCE IS THAT PDA IS USED
TO OBTAIN THE SPECTRUM ,MEANS IT IS USED TO SCAN THE SAMPLE
THROUGH OUT THE SELECTED WAVELENGTH RANGE WHILE IN UV
DETECTER WE CAH TAKE THE ABSORBANCE OF SAMPLE AT FIXED
WAVELENGTH.
IN CASE OF PDA FUNCTION, FILTER OF SPECTROSCOPE ALLOWS TO
PASS ALL THE SELECTED WAVELENGTH'S RAY OF LIGHT REFLECTED
FROM GRATING AND THUS WE GET SPECTRA.
SO , PDA CAN BE USED FOR SPECIFICITY STUDY.
