what is the effect of power factor in electrical circuit ?
if we mainten power factor near about unity (0.999) our
energy consumption Units increase or decrease?

As we know Load is in KW & it is constant. PF will not
change units consumed as we are measuring energy consumption
units in KW not in KVA, only transmission losses will be
reduced.
KW=1.73 X V X I X cos phi
AS KW is constant, voltage is constant if cos phi changes
current will be changed.

Power facotor does not effect on energy consumption. But
transmission and distribution losses can be reduced.

Answer / rahul verma
Electrical energy is exclusively
generated,transmitted,distributed in the form of
alternating current.therefore the question of power factor
immediately comes in to picture.since most of the loads are
inductive in nature hence have low lagging pf.low pf is
highly undesirable as it causes increase in current, and
additional losses of active power in all the elements from
power station generation till the utilization devices.
if we maintain pf as close to unityour consumption unit
decrease

with power factor at unity the power consumption will not
get effected . but for sure the production cost will
decrease with which the cost of consumption will decrease.
and how the production cost will decrease???
answer is with unity pf the real power will be v*i*cos@=v*i
which is actuall input power and now is usefull power.

if power factor lagging then losses will increase, then more
units will consumption.pf should not in leading position.so
to reduce that losses we ll maintain pf close to unity....if
pf is 1 then we ll get kva=kw....reading...THEN UNITS WILL
GET REDUCE,....

The units consumed will NOT change but the company might( most probably will) impose punishments for operating at lower PF as it increases the transmission losses and increases the KVA rating of the associated devices.

effect of power factor in eleectrical circuit is if power
factor is very less reactive power wwill be more it will
cause to damage circuit and energy consumption units
increase.
if power factor is near to unity it will decrease the enegy
cosumption units.

Answer / suraj ojha
As per power fourmula :-
1.Unit cosumption will raise for consumer.
2.Unit generation will increase for genarating station.
