Partial discharges often occurs near the entering of cable into a panel or electrical machines.Because at this position, the cable is stiffly bended which results stress in the insulation i.e. XLPE. And as the time passes insulation degrades leading to passing of some electrical charges from conductor to the earthed parts of the panel or machine. A humming sound is also created and is called partial discharge.

what are the safety in transformer,diesel generator,ups, chiller plant,h.t. , L.t. , sewage treatment plant(stp),water treatment plant(wtp), fire. plz ans. me in detail if you know any of the mention above. i urgently need

how to find the resistance

at work we have a 3 phase motor but on testing one phase isnt getting a reading. it runs 24 hours a day all week. stops and starts well no noise or heating. the phase isnt down to earth.is it just a bad meter reading or not? phases one and three came up with a resistance reading of 0.4 but phase 2 couldnt get anything shows up as open circuit.
