Answer / karanth.sp
The PF of the connected load to a particular transformer is
to be asssuemed or known exactly. If the transformer is
already loaded you can kow the running PF by PF meter
connected.IF the PF is say 0.7 & you want to improve to
unity. You must add a capacitor of Total load in KW multiply
by a factor of 1.02.That is the value of Capacitor in KVAR.
Formula is PF (cos0)=0.7 Tan01=0.963
improve PF(Cos0)=1 Tan02=0
KVAR Required= P(Tan01-Tan02)=P(0.963).
This shall be devided in to number of stages as required.

why the electrical insulators suspention breakdowen
following are the questions asked in interviews: 1) Considering the short circuit fault, which switchgear is preferable, SFU OR MCCB? Which operates faster? whicg one is popular in Indian Market and why? 2)Define SCPD. What is type2 coodination? 3)Why the contactor rating is higher for the fuseless selection than for fuse selection? whether the ratinf of SFU or MCCB remains the same in both the cases? 4)If the HP rating is known then can you calculate the ratings of L.V Switchgear(SFU/MCCB, contactor, OLR) without using the selection chart?
