which have higher efficiency transformer or induction moter

Answer / owais
as a transformer is a static device, the only loss in it are
copper loss & core loss.hence its efficiency is highest
among all electrical machines.its efficiency is generally
greater than 95%.
while an induction motor is a rotating device.hence
mechanical losses are also included here.its efficiency is
generally more than 70%.

Transformers have higher or really speaking much higher
efficiency than induction motors because the flux linkage
in transformers is through high permiability CRGO Steel
whereas induction motors use the air gap between stator and
rotor for flux linkage which has too much reluctance
towards flux.
Mechanical loses are also effect its efficiency but the
main reason is that of medium of flux linkage

transformer have the higher efficiency than im because it
doesn't have rotational loses it is a static device

trasasformer is machine which doesn't have moving parts
yherefore frictional and windage losses do not take part in
transformer
therefore Total losses=copper loss and Iron loss
therefore efficiency of transformer is higher than any other
machine

Answer / dipankar chetia
transformer have higher efficiency because it has no moving part, hence there is only copper loss and iron loss(less) and no friction and winding losses. On the otherhand induction motors have mechanical losses as well as the above mentioned losses.so transformer have higher efficiency.

Answer / phanikrishna.j
transformer has no moving parts .so the mechanical losses are absent .hence it has more efficiency than than the induction motor .and I M is an rotary device ,so basically mechanical losses will be with addition to core and copper losses .so its efficiency is than transformer . generally it is >70%for I M . and >95% for transformer
