DC series motor has high starting torque..but it is not that
we cant start it without load,it is that we dont start it
without load beacuse its high speed will severly damage the
motor and may harm its sorrounding by breaking the parts..it
is very high speed..thats why it is used in traction where
high load is given to it

It seems from the information available in the intenet that I have invented AC 3-phase squirrel cage Induction motor which has highest Starting Torque at its rated capacity, which may be from less than 1 KW to more than 1000 Kw. A prototype motor 1450 rpm of 7.5 Kw rated capacity has been tested on Test Bench to find that when such a motor is tested with Load Vs Speed graph produces 6.1 Kg.Mtr torque at 1200 rpm or 20% slip and average phase curren being 9.2 amp.,Under Locked Rotor Condition, 0 rpm, torque developed being 3.8 Kg.mtr, the average phase curren was 30.1 amp. But when the prototype motor was tested on the bench under Locked Rotor Condition (LRC) it produced torque of 7.3 Kg.mtr, average phase current being 27.8 amp. and at 1200 rpm it produced 3.1 Kg.mtr torque with average phase current of 9.4 amp. So AC 3-phase squirrel cage induction motor can very well be started with full load along with reduced Stator current or electrical consumption by about 8%. The prptotype was made and was being tested for development of 1000 hp traction motor for the locomotives of the Indian Railways
