Though term "Generator" can be used any type of generation
whether it is AC or DC but it is generally referred for DC
generator because in previousely generation was only in DC
but when AC become normal source of electrical supply than
Alternator came in picture and Alternator only generate in
AC. But term "Generator" can be used for both type of
generator.

its simple...
in generators...
thr is no commutator..
output is taken directly from the conductors..so the output
is DC..
in alternator the commutator is used
so the output is AC

Answer / sunil
in generators we collect output from the rotor but in the
alternator gollect output from stator bcoz output of
alternor is very high than generator to avoid sparking from
brushes the output is connected to stator

Why we transmit the power at the voltage in the multiple of 11 or 1.1 like 11kv, 22kv, 66kv, 132kv...... some one told me that it is due to fomr factor 1.1 of sine wave. its fine but while transforming we can choose any voltage, so why only multiple of 1.1 there also.......? plz tell me.
