THE MEANING OF 50 KA IS THAT MAX. RATING OF BREAKER.MEANS IT
CAN WITHSTAND S.C. CURRENT UPTO 50 KA. WHEN S.C. CURRENT IS
GREATER THAN 50KA IT MEANS MCCB SHOULD NOT WITHSTAND & IT
MAY B DAMAGE.

50KA means withstandable capacity of the breaker,,the current crosses 50KA ,the breaker get damaged even it is in trip condition ,,then we replace it with new breaker. ok

Answer / shakeel ahmed
50KA is the breaking capacity. which means that for all fault currents below 50KA, the circuit breaker can de-energize the circuit successfully. if the fault current comes more than 50KA then this circuit breaker will not be able to break, but itself will get damaged.
