During a temperature rise test of a bus duct, it is fed
with 415 volts at 2000 amperes. Why dont we get an electric
shock if we touch the bus bars?

Answer / guest

May be the other side of the bus duct is grounded.........to
pass such a heavy current...........since it is already
grounded the buss duct offers very low resistance compared
to the human body.......

Answer / rupesh

as per my knowledge we will give a rated current of 2000a through low voltage high current source, not 415v. so the voltage is low then we will not get electric shock.

During a temperature rise test of a bus duct, it is fed with 415 volts at 2000 amperes. Why dont w..

Answer / t eswara rao

First thing, the input voltage of the testing kit will be
415V but not the output of the testing kit. Please check
this and confirm.
Second thing, As said by rupesh, rated amphere of 2000A
will be fed by fixed low voltage and variable High current
source. So, you will not get the shock.

During a temperature rise test of a bus duct, it is fed with 415 volts at 2000 amperes. Why dont w..

Answer / jivan gangawane

Generally this test is carried-out to verify the temp limits.

The testing done by applying low voltage to one end and
other end is shorted by suitable link same as that of heat
run test we conduct on transformers.

the capacity of test transformer is limited. Primary voltage
is high but the voltage on the secondary is less to a few
volts to circulate SC current.

So due to low voltage of the source, cuurent thru your body
will not flow due to low voltage.

During a temperature rise test of a bus duct, it is fed with 415 volts at 2000 amperes. Why dont w..

Answer / shivakumara

Dear it's very low voltage generally 5.5 or 10volt will apply and for full load rating of busduct,

One more thing is that we will short 3 termilas or busbars in HEAR RUN TEST, due to that temperature will rise upto stabilizing we need to check accordingly with standards that you referring IEEE or IEC

Answer / aks

1) The Test set up will be isolated from the source through
isolation (Two winding)testing transformers .The test set
up will be floating and there is no return path to the
source .So you will not get shock by touching at a single
point.
