HOW TO CHECK THERMOCOUPLE AND RTD & WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE
BETWEEN THERMOCOUPLE AND RTD
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Answer / hafiz muhammad traiq nizami
the output of thermocouple is mV so check the mV in diff
temperatures and the output of RTD is resistance so measure
the resistance at normal temp it should be greater or equal
to that ohm specific of RTD type .For Example if it is PT100
so it will shows minimum 100 ohm if RTD is in working condition.
Diff bet T/C and RTD
both are used to measure temperature but RTD is more
accurate than T/C
RTD can be used upto 800 deg but T/C can be used upto 1750 deg

RTD Works on the Base of Wheat Stone Bridge which is Mention Below
Wheat Stone Bridge:-when RTD heated up Then Create Some Voltage on the Point of Joint Where Galvanometer is Connected.
and voltage should be Equal those Point When the Voltage is Increases then Resistance Will Increase.
that transducer convert these produced Resistance into 4 to 20 MA.
Thermocouple:-it works on the Principal of See Back Effect which is mention below
the Seebeck Effect Describe a Thermo Electric Phenomena by which temperature Difference between two Dissimilar metal in a Circuit convert into electric current.

Answer / sushma
RTD will be find by R2=R1(1+alpha(t2-t1)) Thermo is used to
measure both AC&DC. In Teromcouple characteristics between
Rstistance & tepmerature is non-linear where as in RTD it
is linear.

Answer / karthik
put multimeter in resistance mode and check for resistance
b/w wires of rtd or thermocouple,If it shows 0 ohm in
normal earth atmospheric temperature it's fine. And There is
no big difference B/w RTD AND THERMOCOUPLE Accorting to the
measurement range(low temp to high temp),Accuracy it is
Differenciated.
