Scr is 4 layer device nt 3 layer first of all, and it is of 3 junctinal devive and it is unidirectional device whereas, triac is 3 junctional device and is bidirectinal device. This can be checked by wikipedia.

SCR is an unidirectional device and it allow current in one direction only. There by it is used in DC circuits mainly.
TRIAC is a bi-directional device and it allows current in both direction. Hence it is mainly used in AC circuits only.

1) In SCR gate current is positive and in Triac gate current is positive or negative.
2) in SCR UJT as triggering device and in triac DIAC is a triggering device.
3) SCR is a unidirectional device and triac is a bidirectional device.

THE DIFFERENCE IS VERY SIMPLE. SCR can be used in Direct current only.
TRIAC can be used in Alternating current only.
