When geneartor is running in poor lagging side power factor its excitation current increases then ..

Answer / asif raza

MY DEAR FRIEND AS WE KNOW THAT, ALL GENERATOR ARE DESIGN TO PRODUCE THE POWER WITH LAGGING P.F,SUPPOSE IF WE INCREASE MORE EXCITATION CURRENT TO THE GENERATOR'S ROTOR FIELD, THE P.F WILL BECOMES LEADING & ARMATURE REACTION WILL TAKES PLACE DUE TO THE EFFECT OF STATOR FLUX ON ROTOR FIELD.SO YOUR AVR WILL LOSSES THE CONTROL OVER ALTERNATOR & YOUR WINDING WILL DAMAGE.

When geneartor is running in poor lagging side power factor its excitation current increases then ..

Answer / naveen

your question is confusing, specify lagging or leading.
if generator running in leading PF then increase exitating
to bring it to lagging region, because it is ment for
lagging power factor only

if it is running in leading then chances of generator
failure are more, but before that generator protection will
trip.
