Answer / vivek
RMS value is the value of root of square of posiitive and
negative both values and it is positive while average may
be negative or zero also. RMS value of a sine wave of
amplitude 1 is 1/sqrt(2) while its average is zero.

RMS value is the root of the average of the square of the
instantaneous value of any wave. Being the squared it comes
always in positive value. It plays important role in
representing the value of sine wave (Mains voltage
specifically). It's value for a sine wave is equal to Peak
votage/sqrt(2). However average value is the simple average
of any wave. It comes positive for positive half and
negative for negative half of a sine wave. It's value is
Peak voltage/Pie for one half only and zero for a complete
sine wave. Generally AC Voltage is represented in terms of
RMS value.

RMS value is equal to the product of foam factor (1.11)and
avg. value .
foam factor = (rms value/avg value) = 1.11
avg. value is actual output but for all computational work
we required rms value. thts y the rating is give in te for
off rms value .

Answer / waqas
RMS value is Root of mean of the square of a sinusoidal signals instantaneous value.
Average value is sum of negative and positive side of a DC signal wave.
Average value for AC signal is always zero because half cycle of sinusoidal is +ve And half cycle is -ve so its sum will always be zero

The voltage at which heat dissipation in ac circuit is equal to heat dissipation in dc circuit is the RMS value.
and
The voltage at which charge transfer in ac circuit is equal to charge transfer in dc circuit is average value.

what is the surge arrestor?how it operates?what is the range for it?
Just a silly question but just to make my curious mind bac to normal - Why was not 67 and 67N relays built into a single relay as i have noticed that the R,Y,B CT wiring end up into the 67 relay while the common of the R,Y,B CT wiring end up into the 67N relay. Then it was better if a single relay was manufactured just like the distance relay (21). Another question i would like to ask is - how do we know where the 67 and 67 N relay has to be placed.why is it not placed at the transformer bay? In the substaion that i am working -i have noticed that it is placed between a breaker and a common double bus bar and this line bay is connected to another substation at a remote place which is furthur connected to a load. In 110V DC supply,if a closed circuit gets open, How can we identify the voltage which is measured after the resistor(4KOhm) which is open with negative.it shows 55V +ve when measured, also the actual positive source is 55V +ve .Because there is no voltage drop in open circuit. How can we identify whether this is the voltage which is series with the resistor or the DC source direct +ve.
