How can calculate ups battery back up time?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Answer / bhushan
UPS / Invertor Battery Backup Time =
----------------------------------
Batt Voltage X No.of (Batteries) X Single Battery Ah /
Total Load (Watts) = No.Hours Backup
Example :- 12v X 20(Batteries) X 200Ah (Single Battery)
/ 6000 Watts = No.Hours Backup
48000 / 6000 Watts = 8 Hours Backup

T = (N.Q.eff.PF.V)/Load
T : Backup time [h]
N : Number of batteries [Nos]
Q : Batteries charge [AH]
eff : Inverter efficiency [%]
PF : Load power factor
V : Batteries voltage [V]
Load : Connected load [W]

UPS Battery Backup time= (No. of battery X Volt per battery X Battery AH)/ Load in VA
(No. of battery X Volt per battery X Battery AH)
Backup = ------------------------------------------------
time Load in VA
Note: KW should be converted to VA before applying the formula

Ups Standard Bacup Time = (Battery Volt X Each Battery Ah X No. Of Batteries) / load in VA
For example: Volt 12 x AH 26 x Total batteries 16 = 4992
Now divide the above with required load (1 KVA) =1000VA
So result is 4992/1000 = 4.992 hours
Means your UPS will run for 4.992 hours in standard calculation method, but in actual there will be a UPS energy waste or dissipation, let your UPS efficiency is 80% then you will get actual time
4.992 x 0.80 = 3.9936 hours i.e approx. 4 hours of backup time for 1KVA load if you have 12volt, 26AH battery of 16 nos.

UPS BACKUP TIME=CONNECTED LOAD/(BATTERY VOLTAGE*NO. OF
BATTERY)
SUPPOSE CONNECTED LOAD = 1KVA,BATTERY VOLTAGE=12,NO OF
BATTERY=2 THEN
BACKUP TIME =1000(1KVA)/12*2
=1000/24=41.67 AH
(IT MEANS BATTERY DISCHARGE CURRENT =41.67 AH IN ONE HR.)
IF YOUR BATTERY CAPACITY IS 150 AH THEN
BACKUP TIME=150/41.67
=3.35 HRS (APPROX)
