Line item is used for performance tuning.

If the dimension tables contains more records than fact
table(Query performance will be poor) at that time we use
line item.

In a fact table doesn't have the dimension table,Rather it
connects directly with the SID table of its sole
characteristic.
Line item dimension allows only one chararacteristic
instead dimension allows many characteristics.

and we have only one chararacteristic we go for
