An item category controls the overall behaviour of an
item.it determines whether the item is relevant for pricing
or not,whether it is relevant for delivery or not, whether
it is relevant for billing or not.it also detrmines whether
it is a free item,text item and it also help to determine
the sales document type.

category .Item category determines the processing of any
item or material that we enter in a sales order and in this
way it also affects the processing of any sales docs. in
which it is used .
Item category classifies and distinguish the different
types of item and material which sales through sales
order . It helps to determine how system should process
like how pricing condition should pick while processing the
sales order ,etc.

I am working on cross company STO. After I create STO, I cannot create outbound delivery by using VL10D. When I check the STO, I find that the delivery creation date is blank. It seems the system does not add the STO to delivery due list automatically. Is some setting in SD affecting this?
