In power system 3 phase supply with star connected winding
is used for supplying to single phase load. The star point
is called as Neutral since in perfectly balanced system the
voltage & current at neutral is zero.
In single phase load, the phase is supplying current while
return path for current is provided by neutral which is
basically other end of that phase with voltage almost equal
to zero

Answer / praveen
phase is a wire which supplies actual electricity i.e.,
current and neutral wire only gives path for current to
return in single phase supply.....
Is This Answer Correct ? | 5 Yes | 3 No |
current passes only when a closed circuit is present.
here neutral is act as a return path. ie why neutral
conductor is half of the phase conductor value.
another information is that.
phase only have the fuse. neutral having neutral link.bcoz,
the equipment should protect before the fault current
reaches it. if we provide fuse in neutral fuse blows after
gone thro the equipment to be protected. bcoz neutral is a
return path

IN AN ELECTRICAL AC CIRCUIT PHASE IS IN HIGHER POTENTIAL AND
NEUTRAL IS IN ZERO POTENTIAL.LOAD IS CONNECTED BETWEEN PHASE
AND NEUTRAL.
Is This Answer Correct ? | 3 Yes | 1 No |
to identify phase and neutral in a star connection phase is simply a winding or coil and neutral is a point where these windings meet neutral is a receiving end
the voltage across phase is known as phase voltage (Vph) and current across phase is called phase current (Iph)
