Change pointer is also known as reduced message type ,basically for transferring the master data from feeder system like Customers ,vendors and materials .These master data is transferred from feeder system(ECC) to GTS system with the help of change pointers or reduced message types.
Change pointers for customer ,vendor and material needs to be activated in bd50 transaction in ECC

Change pointers are deciding which data or fields of master data need to transfer from the Feeder system to the GTS system. For that, we can activate these fields for the respective message type. To know how to activate these fields please refer to below the post.
