Power factor improvement equipments draw reactive power from
the supply system.

It improves over all efficiency of the system and equipments.
Saves Up to 5 to 8% consumption chargers.
avoid over heating of cables, motors etc.
Their are various ways to improve power factor, if detuned
capacitor and filters are used, it can reduce harmonics at a
minimum level (Harmonics are usually generated due to non
linear load like computer, servers, telecom equipments etc.)

Ideally power factor should be unity to have good efficiency and minimum losses.
if pf is higher than unity, current increases thereby increases losses (heat) and reduces efficiency..and may damage the conductors due to heating as current exceeds the rating value..

Power factor should be Unity.
If higher or lower than this then losses are varies.
Losses increases with power factor value.
