why DG,Transformer,UPS capacity will be tell in KVA but not
in KW?

Answer / sujith
The active power in KW is= VICos(angle B/w V&I).
The angle is dependent on the load connected and hence the
active power varies. So KVA only can be mentioned for the
above mentioned supply sources.

Copper loss depending upon the voltage .core loss depeon
the current. both the lossse are meassure in voltage and
current thats why we are mensione in KVA .

Answer / srikanth
In DG the power factor is always unity that means cos=1
so the value of power is P=VI
P=VI IS FORMULA FOR KVA
SO DG IS IN KVA BUT NOT IN KW

First of all get clerar with the term KVA and KW
KW is the real power or active power
that means the amount of power that is available to do real work.
And KVA is the apparent power, that means
only a part ogf apparent power is available to do real work
rest or remainder is simply the excess current.
Now the question arises why to mention KVA the apparent power,
if only we can use a part of it...
Answer..... the rating of electrical appliances is dependent om the amount of current they can sustain, but KW does not give the actual amount of current that electrical equipment
can carry which is given by KVA...
I hope its clear now :)
