How much current can 11KV line carry? What are the
formulae used to calculate current across both side of
transformer? Moreover I need to know can I connect 33KV
line with transformer of 1600KVA? Details are: V=415,
Pf= .9

How much current can 11KV line carry? What are the formulae used to calculate current across both ..

Answer / arulkumaran

KW = KVA*PF
KW = 1600*0.9
KW = 1440
11KV PRIMARY CURRENT=
KW = 1.732*KV*I*PF root(3) = 1.732
1440 = 1.732*11*I*0.9
1440/1.732*11*0.9 = I
I = 83.98 AMPERE
415V SECONDRY CURRENT=
WATTS = 1.732*V*I*PF
1440000 = 1.732*415*I*0.9
I = 2226 AMPERE

How much current can 11KV line carry? What are the formulae used to calculate current across both ..

Answer / manimaranmuthu.m

11KV PRIMARY CURRENT[HT]:

KW = KVA*PF

POWER [KW]= 1600*0.9

POWER = 1440 KW

POWER [KW]=√3*KV*I*PF
root(3) = 1.732

1440 = 1.732*11*I*0.9

1440/1.732*11*0.9 = I

I = 83.98 AMPERE

415V SECONDRY CURRENT[LT]:

WATTS = 1.732*V*I*PF

1440*1000 = 1.732*415*I*0.9

I = 2226 AMPERE

How much current can 11KV line carry? What are the formulae used to calculate current across both ..

Answer / suhailpro

Primary side voltage be 11KV,
Transformer's capacity= 1000KVA

Real power= Apparent*Power factor
KW=KVA*Power factor
if Power factor = 0.95
Power= 1000*0.95
Power=950KW
We also know,
Power(KW)=(root 3)*(KV)*I*Power factor
950=1.732*11*0.95*I
I(Current)= 49.7A

Secondary Voltage Be 433V
We know that,
Power(watts)=(root 3)*V*I*Power factor
Power=950KW=950000W
950000=1.732*433*I*0.95
I= 1333.4 A

bit confused - am i correct in thinking that to determine line to line voltage in a star config 110v 3 phase 4 wire distribution system i would use a voltmeter? I have a circuit configured as an unbalanced load, consisting of three incandescent lamps (1x40w, 1x60w, 1x100w - all 110v rated)connected in a star configuration to a 110v 3 phase 4 wire distribution system. I want to find out what types of meters i would use to obtain: a) each line to line voltage b) the line to neutral voltage across each load c) current flowing in each line and load d) current flowing in the neutral conductor e) power supplied to the loads im assuming i would be using ammeters in series along each line and voltmeters in parallel across each line to neutral? Also how could i predict these meter readings before taking them and with which formulae? Any help would be greatly appreciated A.
