if the ratio of length to breadth is less than 2 then its an
two way slab and if the ratio is greater than two then it is one way slab.
in one way slab design for the reinforcement ,the
reinforcement provided parallel to the shorter span will be
taking the load and called the main bar and the reinforcement
provided parallel to the longer side will be of smaller dia.
the bar in longer span is called distributer.the crank is only provided for the main bar (ie.bars parallel to shorter span)
in two way slab the reinforcement provided in both span will
be taking load and we have to provide crank for all bars

One way slab is the slab having ratio of longer span to
shorter span equal to or more than 2 . If the ratio of
longer span to shorter span is equal to or less than 2, then
such slabs are called as two way slab.
In one way slab main tensile reinforcement is placed
parallel to shorter side which will be the main steel, where
as in two way slab both direction require main steel.

A 16 pile group, consisting of diameter concrete piles, were cast in situ in a clayey soil whose unconfined compressive strength is 1100 psf. Each pile is 60 ft long and the pile spacing is 2.5 times the pile diameter. The water table is at the ground surface and saturated unit weight of the clay is 118 lb/cu.ft. using a factor of safety 3 and a reduction factor =0.45, compute the allowable capacity of the piles acting as individuals
Normally in slabs, steel quantity is not added when you calculating concrete quantity for that slab, why it is not added ?
