Why the tapping connections are taking above for gas service and below for liquid service?..

In gas connection to avoid liquid traps in gas flow measurement, as liquid is more denser it will remain below hence gas tap connections are given above.
And in liquid to avoid gas traps in liquid flow measurement, as gas is less denser it will be in upper area of pipe, so tap are given at bottom.

than liquid.
