MOCB contains oil which expands and contracts during working which may create vacuum/gases inside the circuit breaker which may lead to an explosion sometimes if proper care is not taken. They also require a cooling system. Moreover, these circuit breakers require proper maintenance like changing the oil, taking proper predictive maintenance etc. But in the case of VCB's they don't require any maintenance, exhibit high arc quenching property, offer good amount of cooling. Hence, VCB's are mostly preferred.
