What are the effects of water on shear strength and foundations?..

if water is present in soil it decreases shear strength of soil. if water is too more it causes quick sand condition in fine silts and sands. it is not required for any structure.
due to presence of water pile foundations are adopted upto deep strata or soil stabilization may be adopted.
