Why generator field rheostat is set to maximum position and motor field rheostat is set to minimum?..

Answer / r.sridharan

In generator there is nothing to limit current.Hence winding will over heat and burn.In order to protect generator we kept at maximum position.
In motor to increase torque at initial condition rheostat is kept at minimum position.

Why generator field rheostat is set to maximum position and motor field rheostat is set to minimum?..

Answer / c saisandeep

GENERATOR rheostat is maximum position in order to protect the winding from high currents suddenly............
MOTOR rheostat is minimum position soo that flux increases .If flux increases the speed of the motor can be reduced....................

Why generator field rheostat is set to maximum position and motor field rheostat is set to minimum?..

Answer / s.laxman

When the field rheostat is in minimum position more current will flow through field and hence more flux and therefore armature current is low and speed is less at the time of start

Why generator field rheostat is set to maximum position and motor field rheostat is set to minimum?..

Answer / ram

Field rheostat is in minimum position because of the motor runs at a rated speed. If the field rheostat is maximum position the motor runs at above the rated speed

Why generator field rheostat is set to maximum position and motor field rheostat is set to minimum?..

Answer / ranganath bhagavathi

At initial condition,we have high armature current,so in order to reduce that we use 3-point starter.
Then after we to kept a constant speed.so if current decreases obviously speed increses.so thats y we decrese the flux/arm current speed increses..
