actually in power plants?

in power plants we use alternators so excitation is given
to rotor

excitation means the dc supply which we are giving as usual
in the case of Synchronous generators on the rotor. In the
power plants we are using the three phase synchronous
generators called alternators. there the three phase ac
supply is conver ted into the dc with the help of Excitation
system. out put dc of this excitation is fed into the rotor
of the alternator

in thermal power plants we use three phase alternators so
excitation given to rotor because the field wdg.on the rotor

geeta its wrong bcos the excitation always given to the
rotor of generator and in the stator the voltage is
developed

in thee phase geerator what we called it as alterator
excitation give to the field widig located in the rotor. The
termial voltage of the alterator is varied by changing the
excitation with the help of automatic voltage regulator at
the time of sychroosation.

Answer / arun
excitation is needed for the AC generator, it cannot be self
excited, so we need a dc supply to excite the field (pilot
exciter, field flashing etc.,), dc supply is given to the
slip rings of rotor through brushes. and then AVR (automatic
voltage regulator) also used to increase or decrease the
level of excitation given the field of the rotor,

Answer / prasad
as per theoritical excitation can be given to either stator
or rotor ,but due to some advantages in practical system
excitation given to rotor because of easy controling of
excitation, for easy collecting of output power.

Answer / ramji
Excitation is given to rotor(Rotating field) in power
plants.Because
1. Collection of generated voltage is easy.i.e no need of
brushes and slip rings. So, lesser voltage drop and maint.
2. Also for higher voltages it is advisable to take output
from stationarty part.

FIRST OF ALL WE GIVE SUPPLY FROM AVR TO THE EXCITER THAT IS AC BUT WE CONVERT THIS AC INTO DC TO SUPPLY SLIP RINGS BRUSHES OF THE ROTOR.SO EXCITATION IS GIVEN TO THE ROTOR.

Why the voltage n frequency of the incoming generator is kept slightly higher than d grid voltage n frequency while synchronization ?
There are 2 Flip_Flop with logic between them. Given Clock to Q delay, logic prop. delay, set up and hold times specify maximum clock frequency of system. What happens if second output fed back to first input. Any changes? What happens with timing if second output is fed back to logic between the flops? Good Luck!

In both 600/1000 V cable and 450/750 V cable, we can supply 415 V. However for distribution, all utilities are using only 600/100 V instead of 450/750 V. What is the reason?
