answer is 18hrs because a monkey climbs 3metre and slip
back to 2 metre so in 1hr only 1metre he climbs.So in 17 hr
he will climb 17metre and then after 17metre he will climb
fully 20 metre in 18hrs

it is but 0bvious fact that atfer every hr monkey sleep 2mt
and reach only 1 mt in 1 hr but after reaching 17 mt's in
17 hr's in 18hr they reach the target of 20 mts it is
different thinng that after reaching 20 mt's they again
come back on 18 mt. but still he reach the target of 20
mt/s .

crosses 17 meter in 17 hrs...18th hr its jumps 3 metres n
reaches the top...

Ans is 18hrs, as in first 17hrs the monkey climbs 1mt and
in the 18th hour he jumps 3mts, which make its total to be
20mts, as he already reached the top he'll not slip now.
So the ans is 18hrs

monkey takes 1hr for overall 1mt.....
so if we consider the 20th hour he will be jumping from 20 to 23mts...and back to 21mts...and according to the question it is only 20mts....now if we consider 17th hour he will be jumping from 17 to 20mts ...which is the given height...to be exact the answer is 18hrs....to be precise the answer is between 17 and 18hrs..cuz we dont know d time taken for slip...

So original height per hr is 3mts-2mts=1mt
its taking 1hr to climb 1mtr height.
so it will take 20hrs to climb 20mtrs height
