Petrol needs a spark plug for ignition so it would probably not work if injected in diesel engine,which isn't provided with one, as diesel self ignites.

Diesel needs to be broken into a smaller state (tiny
drops). In a petrol engine this doesn't happen. So the fuel
cant burn. A diesel is timed for the slow ignition of the
diesel fuel (that's where the sound comes from.) If you
where to put petrol in a diesel it would ignite the sec.
the injector fires it into the cylinder and the piston
wouldn't be at top dead center. So when the petrol burned
(exploded) it would fight the piston coming up.

there is no chance to start ignition if we inject diesel in
petrol engine and petrol in diesel engine.because diesel
engine have compressed air in the ignition instead of it
petrol engine have dry air thats what petrol engine have
spark plug n diesel engine does not have spark plug.so.

Working principle and Design of both the engines are
different.
So the Engine cannot run.
Case 1 : In case of injecting Petrol in diesel engine,
Due to commpression and low igntion point of Petrol it will
ignite before it is desired(TDC=Top Dead Centre) point.
Case 2 : In case of injecting Deisel in Petrol engine,
diesel will not burn effectively.

*when diesel is injected in petrol engine
