Hi,
We assign internal Number ranges for different document
types,then system will allocate document numbers
sequentially. Otherwise we have to allocate document
numbers externally.

External Number range: At the time of posting document user
has to assign number for the posting document.

suppose u have to define no. range for material document then go to SNRO . Then define no.range for particular fiscal year.
for ex- you had put no range 1000000 to 1999999. (fiscal year -2018).
then while u r creating 1st goods receipt you will be getting material number -1000001.
I thing you got the point.
