How DC to AC convert

Answer / bidu
An inverter increases the DC voltage, and then changes direct current to alternating current before sending it out to power a device.
These devices were initially designed to do the opposite i.e to convert alternating current into direct current.
Since these converters could basically be run in reverse to accomplish the opposite effect, they were called inverters.

A 100 kVA , 400 v/250 kv testing transformer has 8% leakage reactance and resistance on 100 KVA base . A cable has to be tested at 500 kv using the above transformer as a resonant transformer at 50 hz . if the charging current of the cable at 500 kv is 0.4 A find the series inductance required . Assume 2% resistance for the inductor to be used and the connecting leads . Neglect dielectric loss of hte cable . what will be the input voltage to the transformer ?

i am swathi, b.tech 4th year. In smps(switched mode power supply)we are using diodes, mosfets, igbts for controling of current. And my question is why we did not use thyristors(scr)? it is also act as a switch, then what is the drawback of scr as compared to above transisters> if we use the scr, then what is happening ? plz give reply as soon as possible bcoz i am doing project on smps. plz frnds i want ans for that. if anybody know the ans plz send to my e-mail id /swathi.tadakapally@gmail.com/
