ceiling voltage is d maximum voltage that can be applied
across d field winding of a synchronous generator upto d
point of unstability.
In a static excitation system, the rectifier transformer
performs this function of supplying d ceiling currents at d
rated ceiling voltage for a short period of 10 seconds. and
it is usually done to avoid d system going into unstability.
