Simple and easy method of caculating approx wt of steel
bars and easy to remember.
For Ex wt of 10 dia per meter:
Calculate accordingly ie 10 x 10 x .00617 = 617 say 620
grams per meter.
Like wise for any dia size Calculate Dia X Dia X.00617
say 16 dia = 16 x 16 x.00617 = 1.579 say 1.6 kgs per meter
and 20 dia = 20 x 20 x.00617 = 2.468 say 2.5 kgs per meter
Approx

Rebar Weight Formula?
Exmaple:-
There is another way of calculating the specific weight (or unit weight) of a rebar. Especially for those who are interested of rebars less than 10mm of dia.
the way is to calculate it mathematically knowing that the
Note:-
a.] Density of steel rebars is 7851 Kg/m3.
b.] 8mm Diameter Rebar
A.] Formula:-
Unit weight [Kg/m] = Cross-Sectional Area [m2] x Density [kg/m3]
B.] Answer:-
Unit weight [Kg/m] = (22/7)x(radius)2 x 7851 kg/m3
Unit weight [Kg/m] = 3.14 x 16 x 7851 kg/m3
Unit weight = 0.395 Kg/m
8mm dia 1m weight = 0.395kg
Weight of Rebar = .0395[Kg/m] x Rebar length
8mm dia 3.66m length Rebar Weight ?
= .0395[Kg/m]x 3.66 [m]
= .14457[Kg]
