In General Practice, Lap Length is depending upon the grade of concrete & diameter of he bar which we are going to used for lapping.
It is usually taken 36d for M40 , 46d for M35 , 49d for M25 & and normally used as 50d

In case of a beam ,main steel is provided along the longer span because, bending moment is directly proportional to length but why in case of one way slab main steel is provided along shorter span while as bending takes place along longer span?comment
