inside the closed environment or buildings whereas in the
outdoor substation the substation equipments are kept in
open environment or opened surroundings.

1.Indoor substation means underground substation,outdoor
substation means above the ground.
2.purpose to go for indoor substation is less space
available for erection of substation.so we can use SF6 gas
as insulating medium in indoor substaion to reduce
space,instead of using normal insulation.but cost is high
for erection of indoor substation.

in general it is observed in power stations, the tertiary winding is used in higher rating Y-Y auto transformer but not in Y-Y power transformer. is the tertiary winding is compulsory then why it is not using in power transformer
