Answer / iamdon
The primary and secondary windings are used for normal
voltage/current transformation where as the tertiary
winding is used for following special purposes
1)Supply to substation auxiliaries.
2)Connecting static capacitors/synchronous condenser etc
The tertiary winding is connected in delta to allow the
flow of zero sequence current in the tertiary loop in the
case of unbalance.

what is vector surge & vector shift? we have 25.3 MW(11kv) generator & 11kv/132kv transformer, connected with with 132 kv grid.vector surge relay is tripping frequentaly.what is permissible maximum limit for this.
What is the function of an exciter in a generator?
minimum ohm for lighting minimum ohm for Earthing
This is about the recent problem that we have faced in our project site. We have 6/7.5 MVA. 66/11kV three phase star - star power transformer. The neutral was solidly connected to the earthing mat. But because of high resistance of earthing mat (130 ohm on LV and 180 ohm on HV), one day LV side neutral earthing conductor melted and we had a huge damage. Can any one plz tell me what might happen when we connect power transformer neutral to the earthing mat which has high resistance (>100 ohm ) ?????
Even when a particular generator in a generating station is under maintenance we are still able to maintain the same power output. How is this possible? Does the tie line between 2 generating stations have a role to play in it?
