Instrumentation & Control engineering is the most
interesting and one of the most important engineering
stream in a process industry. Most of us have studied the
process of purifying petrol, diesel, kerosine from crude
oil, using distillation.....but for the right product with
right charateristics the process measurement is required in
real time for analysis and for a safe execution of the
same, the process should be under control. This basic
factor gives birth for the need of a engineering stream
called Instrumentation & Control.
so a instrumentation engineer must know about the basic
laws of physics, based on which each and every instrument
works, knowledge in electronics and microprocessors is must
to understand the modern day advanced measurement
techniques and control engineering. knowledge in
Matallaurgy and basic chemical properties will give u an
upperhand.
Konwledge on field instruments, basic electrical
engineering, wiring standards, control logic development,
control systems like DCS, PLC, communication protocols like
RS 232, 442 etc, profibus, control net, and upto the latest
foundation field bus concept, safty features, atleast
outerskin process knowledge...all these are required but
not limited to, for an Instrumentation engineer.

industry.
Need to know about interior of Measurement
systems of units and Automation(Plc).
If u read Industrial Applications of
instruments ,its very useful for Constructional instruments
job also.
