There are two type of ups 1. semi-auto ups which is structured by solid relay .when the ac power supply is out,it change to dc supply and convert the ac out put. It has off period time is 20 milli second.so, this type is called by off line ups. 2, is fully auto ups which has structured by electronic switching device which has not off time period. so, this type is called by online ups.

in on-line ups the inverter will be always ON.the power
flows from supply to load through battery and inverter.but
in off-line ups inverter will be ON only when supply is
cutoff.in this power flows directly to the load through a
seperate static switch..
The inverter in on-line should be high efficient and also
change over time is very less in online ups than offline..

y we use neutral, all r told its used to for closed path..k its a just used to closed path,in a transmission line y we put same conductor used n both phase and neutral..if we use less than phase conductor in neutral mean we ll reduce cost its right r wrong..if we use mean any problem occur in transmission line..
I just purchased a 4 position cam switch to be used to operate a 3-speed blower motor. The motor is a 10 amp motor and has 3 wires that are used to control speed. The cam switch was rated at 660V 20 amps but when I received it, I noticed that it has AC-15 operational current rating (Ie) of 4/5 amps. If I am reading the label correctly. the 4/5 amps is related to 440v/220V (Ue). Other ratings are AC-3: 5.5A, AC2: 7.5A and AC-4: 1.5A. My questions are 1) Is it safe to use this switch with the motor I have 2) what is the difference between the 20 amp Ith ratting and the Ie operational ratings?
