Shear resistence means the combined action of concrete and
steel to resit the external shear force. Normally concrete
itself has very low resistence to shear and its majority
contribution by aggregate interlocking properties as such
reinforcement assistance is required. By providing shear
links and bent-up bars in shear zone to reduce the external
shear effect. Its very crucial in huge RC Beams as the
shear failure is always sudden when compare to flexural
failure.
