piles bear the load by two methods
1 skin friction developed between wall of piles &
surrounding soil transfer the load to the beneath the soil.
2 End bearing piles distribute the load.

on hard strata or combination of both.

1)by skin friction: skin friction type pile bear load by friction only as no good strata availabe below this type of pile
2)end bearing good strata is available below pile
thats why trasfer directly to strata by end of pile
