what is the difference between neutral and earth..

Answer / pravesh

the main difference between the earth and neutral is that
the neutral is connected to the circuit and work as the
return path for the circuit , but earth works as for
protection of the appliences , if any leakage current
exists in the circuit earth conductors work at zero
potential and gives low resistence path to the leakage
current

what is the difference between neutral and earth..

Answer / santanu misra

though neutral and earth may look to serve same purpose but
neutral is a part of circuit,it allowes return path for
current,it has many advantages,a neutral is used in 3phase
transformer to reduce harmonics &makes secondary output
fairly sinusoidal,on the other hand earthing means to
connect an electrical system to ground potential for
protection purpose,if any leakage current exists in
circuit, earthing forms a low resistance path to ground and
protect the operetor from electric schock.

what is the difference between neutral and earth..

Answer / antwan mojito

The primary difference between neutral and earth is safety.
Although both eventually terminate to earth they have
seperate functions. Using an electric drill as an example.
Neutrals provide a closed circuit, or path, which allows
the drill to function. The earth ground is provided in case
of a short inside the drill. The electricity will go
through the earth ground instead of the person using the
drill, preventing injury or death. Anyone old enough can
remember the old 2-prong wall outlets. The earth ground
safety is why we now use 3-prong outlets.

what is the difference between neutral and earth..

Answer / tse-wang

Electrically Neutral is different from Eaarth.
Neutral is (assumed) electrically zero potential point and
if any line (wire) is connected between the neutrals it's
function is just to balance the current in two or many
circuits.

Earth is a system designed and connected to the electrical
appliences to bring the connected point (appliences) to
electrically to the earth level (which we assume to be
zero). To be specific, the earth potential is not always
zero. However, connecting the earth (our standing point or
the next touch point electrically)to the electrical
appliance will try to ballance the two connected points to
equi-potential (same voltage level) level. and avoid flow
of current through. That's why earth connection should be
made by low resistant wire.

what is the difference between neutral and earth..

Answer / md. obaydur rahman

Since the neutral point of an electrical supply system is
often connected to earth ground, ground and neutral are
closely related. Under certain conditions, a conductor used
to connect to a system neutral is also used for grounding
(earthing) of equipment and structures. Current carried on a
grounding conductor can result in objectionable or dangerous
voltages appearing on equipment enclosures, so the
installation of grounding conductors and neutral conductors
is carefully defined in electrical regulations. Where a
neutral conductor is used also to connect equipment
enclosures to earth, care must be taken that the neutral
conductor never rises to a high voltage with respect to
local ground
