In an ammeter used for measurement of current, what is the
meaning of the representation of range as '0-50-300'?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
ABOVE REPRESENTATION SHOWS IT IS AN SUPPRESED SCALE OF
AMMETER
0-50-300A -------> IT MEANS IT MEASURES CURRENT FROM 0-50A
AND 300 INDICATES THAT 6 TIMES OF MAXIMUM CURRENT i.e
50*6=300
AT THE TIME OF SWITCHING CURRENT GREATER THAN THE NORMAL
VALUE
IT IS ABOUT 5-6 TIMES THE NORMAL VALUE
AT STARTING THE NEEDLE IN AMMETER GOES TO 300 AND WITH IN
FRACTION OF SECONDS COMES TO NORMAL VALUE

It is a meter that can used in motor fdr. means motor FLC
is 50 Amp. & it's starting current is 6 times, i.e.300AMP.

It means the ammeter has a provision to select between 0-
50amps or 0-300amps full scale range.

THIS TYPE AMMETER WILL BE USED IN MOTOR FEEDERS. IF THE
MOTOR'S FULL LOAD CURRENT 50 MEANS IN STARTING TIME IT WILL
TAKE 50x6 TIME=300AMPS. THAT'S WHY WE ARE USING THIS TYPE
AMMETER IN MOTOR FEEDER. IN THIS AMMETER UPTO 0-50 AMPS
PROPERLY DEFINED IN DISPLAY BUT AFTER 50-300A THEY JUST
MENTION IN DISPLAY. IF WE USE NORAML AMMETER(0-50AMPS).IN
STARTING TIME METER WILL BE FULLY CLOSED FOR SOME SECOND
BECAUSE OF THIS METER ACCURACY WILL GO DOWN. IN NORMAL TIME
METER NEEDLE IN ACCELATION WE CAN'T MEASURE PROPER VALUE.
