SAP R/3 is High end SAP Product (SAP R/3, ECC..)(not
customized yet)(need a lot of work).
SAP A1 is SAP All in One (AIO)..customized R/3 (for easier
implementation, pre-customized)

SAP R/3 is the older product viz a viz to ECC 6.0, but with same size of application, so in other words, ECC 6.0 has taken over R/3 in the current market with EHP 7 released for ECC 6.0 as enhancement package.
