What is Harmonics & what are its efect & which harmonic is
dangerous

Answer / gunnam santosh
harmonics are mainly produced due to leakage fluxes
basically in transformers and ac generators.these leakage
fluxes induces there respective emfs in the armature which
causes an effect on fundamental waveform and distorts the
fundamental waveforms.basically there are even as well as
odd harmonics.even means even number of positive and
negative cycles in one cycles of fundamental wave
cycles, these have zero effect as they neutralizes by
positive and negative cycles.where as odd harmonics has
major effect.basically star connected armature windings are
used to reduce odd hormincs.
and by using short pitched windings

Answer / abdul wajid
Harmonics is the sudden increase in the system voltage it
is caused by addition of unwanted frequencies to the
sinusiodal waveform of ac system . 3rd harmonics is
dangerous
