I think that an electric train work on the 3phase induction motor. And they use capacitor start for running the motor during the starting condition to produce high starting torque which produces high starting speed.....
hit yes if u support the answer given by me or else comment on it if it is wrong so that i can get to know my capability..
Thank you....

Application of 3 phase induction motor for drivivg the train
wheel &gear.
Due to conversion of single phase 33Kv over head
transmission line is converted to 3 phase on 500-1500volt
through the cycloconverter & transformer and provide to 3
phase induction motor of the train wheel.

Electric Trains work on DC Series motors.Electic train works by giving supply to the motor through
the transmission line it may be A.C supply or D.C supply.a
collector is used to collect the supply from the
transmission line and it is given to the A.C motor or D.C
motor. The motor is driven by using gears and belts.
The Overhaed supply is 25kV AC supply. It is step down and
rectified to use at DC supply. The power is used for moving train is about 10,000 volts(10kW).

How we will get 25KV from Single conductor that is fed
above the train (Over head)
We will get 22KV if we test between 2 phase.
but in traction only one conductor is there, then how we
will get 25KV from single over head line conductor
