an ice block submurged in the water, if the ice melt level
of water

an ice block submurged in the water, if the ice melt level of water..

Answer / vp

Ice floats in water. Floatation - body will displace an
amount of water equal to its weight. Since density of ice is
less than water when ice melts its volume decreases. Ergo
level of water will fall.

an ice block submurged in the water, if the ice melt level of water..

Answer / dhruv

Answer: The level of water will DECREASE after ice melts.
INTERESTINGLY, THIS DECREASE IN LEVEL WILL VARY LINEARLY
WITH INCREASE IN DENSITY OF THE FOREIGN OBJECT THAT IS
INTRODUCED INTO THE GLASS OF WATER (HREE THE FOREIGN OBJECT
IS ICE)
Explanation: Mass = Volume x Density
For a given mass, since water has density greater than that
of ice, ice will occupy more volume than water. So if an
ice cube of say, x gms. is placed in water, then the volume
of ice will be (x/1)c.c. (all quantities are expressed in
CGS units), whereas that of water, which will be formed
after ice melts, is (x/d)c.c. (where d is the density of
ice). Since d<1, (x/d) > (x/1), thus ice occupies more
volume than water having same mass.

V = pi*(r^2)*h = mass x density
As mass, pi and r are constants, h is directly proportional
to density

an ice block submurged in the water, if the ice melt level of water..

Answer / gaganjot

it is clearly written ice is submerged in water and we know
that ice occupies more volume than water.............
so the final result is : level will decrease

an ice block submurged in the water, if the ice melt level of water..

Answer / ajai

Hai every one,
The level of the water won't increase or
decrease (Since the ice block does not floats it is already
submerged).........Mr.Marx is correct..

an ice block submurged in the water, if the ice melt level of water..

Answer / vinodh kumar j

Many think that the water level increases as ice melts but
it doesn't happen since there is an interesting feature in ice.
i will explain it below,
Ice is the only non metallic substance which will expand
when it freezes. So the volume occupied will be more.
Now u can easily understand y the water level decreases as
ice melts.
If u still have any doubt please reply to the email id

an ice block submurged in the water, if the ice melt level of water..

Answer / shashbhushan kumar

level of water is decreases, due to case like structure
property of water.

an ice block submurged in the water, if the ice melt level of water..

Answer / anil kumar sahani

Mass of water=mass of ice
Density of ice<density of water
so,volume of ice>volume of water.
Now it is clear,Present now ice is submurged in water so
the level water is fixed now, when ice will melt it will
aquire less volume, here the container area is constant so
water level will go down.

decrease

an ice block submurged in the water, if the ice melt level of water..

Answer / kuldeep kumar jaat

It will actually decrease. Ice is less dense than liquid
water because all 4 hydrogen bonds on the water molecule is
bonded and is the reason ice floats on water. So if you
submerge the ice cube, it will melt and become more dense
and the liquid water level will go down.

Note the water level will go up when you put the ice cube in
the water, but it will go down some after it melts but not
back to its level before the ice was placed in the water
