what is the difference between signal cable and ontrol cable?..

Answer / binu

Signal cable generally termed in instrumentation to carry
low voltage or current signals like 24VDC or 4 to 20mA.
Usually the signal cables will be twisted pair with
individual and/or overall sheath which helps to avoid any
EMI in the cable carrying 4-20mA to a distance.

Control cable is generally termed in Electrical to carry
out controlling of MCC/Feeders i,e to control motor like
start/stop command, start/stop indication etc. Here the
cableconstruction do not call for as mentione above in the
signal cables.

what is the difference between signal cable and ontrol cable?..

Answer / m.v.ramesh

There are several differences between Control cables and
signal cables...
1. Physical Construction wise, 2. Purpose and usage, 3.
Applications etc.

Above all answers are mostly right but something to be
added. The basic is nature of cable.

Both the cables carries Current and Voltages at different
levels.

Signal can be voltage mesured or current measured, 0-5
volts, 1-5 volts, 0-10 volts, 0-50 volts, milli vlolts T/C,
resistance (RTD) etc (with a current carrier say few mill
ams to amps), 4-20 ma (with volage carriers), freequency
dominated (Pick ups) with both current and voltage
carriers. Ie, to note one of this components is fixed and
others will vary acc to the change in the measured
parameter or demand parameter.

Control cables are mostly Voltage driven with current
carries (usually several amps)and fixed freequencies (24v,
110, Ac, DC). Ther will be no change usually either in
voltage, current & freequency. exept zero level to rated
level. like on-off conrtol vales positions. But not 3 phase
and 440 volts are control cables they come in power cables
& high voltage categories.

SIGNAL CABLE:-
It carry's signal(4-20mA or 0-10v)& Conductor
max. cross section is 0.75mm2 with twisted pair.

CONTROL CABLE:-
It carry's control voltage(230 / 110VAC or
110/ 24VDC))& Conductor max. cross section is 1.5mm2

what is the difference between signal cable and ontrol cable?..

Answer / sudipta,iter

In signal cable only signal is given generally low current
gows through it and control cable high current passes
through it.

what is the difference between signal cable and ontrol cable?..

Answer / jerry

Signal cable is
used for all AI
and AOs which
having low
resistance for
communication n
cable are
available in
twisted pair
with shield.
Control cable is
used for all DI
and DOs which
having high
resistance
compare to
signal cable n
these cable
available in
single r core
cable.

what is the difference between signal cable and ontrol cable?..

Answer / d_real

Signal cable= usually shielded type to prevent the EMI effect and carries 4-20mA
0-10v

Control Cable= not shielded type and carries 230-VAC, 110VAC, 24 AC/DC

Is This Answer Correct ?    5 Yes 2 No

what is the difference between signal cable and ontrol cable?..

Answer / jitendra patil
