What happen if LV supply is fed to a HT motor?

Answer / m.anand
if we connect an ht motor with LT supply the motor run
according the magntic field produced by them.and then also
the torque developed by the LT supply is much lesser than
the torque devloped the HT supply.for example if we pull a
load with 100% of energy is not equal when we pulling the
same load of 20% of energy

If HT motor fed on LT supply, motor will run slowly and speed will increase with time. Initially motor will draw app. 1/3rd of the rated current and it will also reduce by 2-5 amp and will get steady.Motor such type of performance is expected only if it's bearing, rotor and other factors are good.

Answer / singaravelu
There is no problem on it's winding and it's torque and it's rpm will reduced and it will runs at a short duration minimum one hour continusously it will runs there is chases to coil burn.It will held to test the Motor and find it's housing problem.

As power taken by motor is VIcos@, so if less voltage will
be applied on the motor then in order to develop magnetic
field in the motor i.e in between rotor & stator, it will
take large current as compared to it rated current, result
in over heating of winding, excess losses, and finally
winding will burn out.

Hv windings are designed such that they have more number of
turns to get high voltage, also less thickness as it carries
less current.comparitively, Lv windings are designed such
that they have less turns and more thickness so that they
withstand high current. when such high current is passed
through hv winding, being thin it cannot withstand such high
current, due to heat developed, winding may burn.

if LT applied to HT motor then motor winding will burn out.
because motor current is inversely propotional to voltage.
i f applied less voltage the motor current will increase.
e.g.
1500 kw motor supply voltage 6.6 kV current 155 A.
if applied 415 V then current is around 2000A .
